Anticipatory grief is the grief and sadness you feel before the impending death of your animal. This can appear at the onset of a life-threatening diagnosis, in your pet's senior years or illness and continue until their death. Anticipatory grief encompasses an array of emotions, such as sadness, anger, frustration, depression, anxiety, and fear. This is often the grief most people do not expect to feel in the in-between space when your beloved animal is dying. This grief provides an opportunity to create a greater presence, and acceptance of their death.
