Showing Your Pet Gratitude In A Way They Truly Understand

Our animals don't speak English or any other spoken language, for that matter. They "speak" the language of energy, senses, and pure present moment awareness. When you say, "good boy," your dog isn't necessarily understanding the words; instead, they hear your tone and feel your energy of loving affection.

Have you ever wondered how to express appreciation and gratitude to your animal?

I'll walk you through how to express gratitude in a way your pet will truly understand

When you connect with your inner self, you can share with your animal in their language. Choose a moment when you can be calm and present. Gently close your eyes, place your hands over your heart, and breathe in deeply with the intention of tuning into your heart. Then, visualize your beloved animal sitting in front of you. Gaze softly upon them in your mind's eye, holding the same unconditional love. From this place, offer a heartfelt "Thank You" with feeling rather than words.

What do I mean by "with feeling rather than words"?

Think of a time when you were grateful to someone or something. Then, take yourself back to that moment, reliving it in your mind. Allow all of the feelings of that moment to fill you again. That is the feeling of gratitude. This is what you want to offer to your beloved pet.

Stay here for a few moments, then slowly open your eyes and smile.

(note: You may do this with your eyes softly open, gazing into your animal's eyes, with your animal at a distance and with an animal that has passed.)

Ask yourself:

How did it feel to send this communication?

Are there any shifts in your or your animal's body language?

Has either of you softened?

Has your animal blinked slowly, yawned, sighed, lip licked? These are physical indicators that your animal has "heard" you. They may even mirror gratitude back to you by rubbing against you or doing something that they know makes you smile. I believe our animal companions are on a mission to teach us how to appreciate the now of each moment. They teach us how to feel the full spectrum of emotions by loving and accepting us unconditionally.

Come back to this heart-centred place whenever you want to clearly communicate and connect to your animal, as the language of the heart is the language of all animals.
